Designed for people with diabetes or caregivers of someone with diabetes, this program was developed by Stanford University and is taught by trained instructors. The workshop is held for six weeks, one day a week, for two and a half hours, including breaks and provided snacks. Classes are highly interactive and fun. We work on teaching the individual to be better self-managers and this has proven to reduce unnecessary hospital visits.
Each participant will receive a FREE copy of the companion book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 4th Edition, and a Relaxation CD. Healthy treats and water provided at every session.

Matter of Balance Workshop

This award winning* program is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls. This program utilizes volunteer coaches to teach the eight two-hour sessions, with five sessions including exercises. Each participant will receive a Participant Handbook with information, exercises, and worksheets to help view falls and fear of falling as controllable, promote exercise to increase strength and balance, and advocate exercise to increase strength and balance. Healthy treats and water provided at every session.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers

Caregiving involves many challenges. Too often, caregivers neglect their own health and well being, and put their own needs second. This often results in caregivers becoming “burned out”, depressed or physically ill themselves. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six week course, taught by two program leaders. Participants meet for 1.5 hours each week.  Tools that are learned include: reducing personal stress, communicating feelings and needs, setting limits asking for help, dealing with emotions, how to make tough decisions, and dealing with difficult situations.
